Biography

In 1997, after playing together in various combinations, and playing a range of musical styles, Neil Smith (guitar/vocals), Dean Robson (vocals) and Andy Wood (bass) formed States of Mind.

The trio performed various acoustic gigs in and around their home town of Bristol, UK. Their first album, the 11-track "Full Circle Moon" was recorded in 1998, and featured a blend of acoustic and rock tracks.

For their second album, the 6-track demo EP, "The French House Sessions", Simon Edwards (drums) was added to the line-up; the album title being drawn from the name of the pub Simon was managing at the time. However, over the next few years, the band dispersed.

Then, after a few years of relative inactivity - but jamming as often as possible - a remarkable twist of fate and poaching has seen the three original members all move to the same area on the Herts/Essex border, and begin jamming seriously once again.

Another twist of fate adds Neil's brother-in-law Stuart Priest (drums) to the line-up, and enabled the band to play their first gig together at Neil and Leanne's wedding reception in October 2004.

With the band sounding tighter and more energised than ever before, they are looking forward to hopefully playing some more gigs in the near future, and to the recording of their third album - upon which work has now begun.
